aboutus

Many are the plans in a person's heart, but the Lord’s purpose prevails.

'Let nothing frustrate your purpose.”

With immense honor and gratitude, I enter this new season as Pastor of our beloved New Bethel Community Baptist Church. I am deeply thankful to each member of this congregation for entrusting me with the responsibility to lead and serve.

Together, let us embark on this journey, unified in our dedication to the upbuilding of the kingdom. May we be guided by the divine purpose that transcends our individual aspirations, knowing that in its fulfillment lies our true fulfillment.

Here's to a future filled with faith, love, and collective endeavor. Let us move forward with unwavering resolve, knowing that our steps are ordered by the divine hand.

About Us

The New Bethel  Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1807 Community in Alexandria, Louisana.

Our History

In 1980, Rev. Fred Jacobs and a group of baptized believers stepped out on faith in search of a church home. Bro. Dan Hamilton went to Mrs. Peggy Trotter at the Ramada Inn. This is where our first service was held. In search of a more permanent church home, several members were lead to a church at 2521 England Drive. Our first service was held on December 1980 at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. Wyman Lewis served as pastor for several years but in 1987 he resigned. The Lord sent us another leader in October of that year named Clarence Dupar, Jr. The United Educational Missionary Baptist Association under Rev. Abe Lowe’s presidency installed Pastor Dupar.

Under his leadership our congregation’s membership started to increase, auxiliaries reorganized, choirs were formed and new Deacons were installed.

On July 19, 1995 we paid the final note on the England Drive church. A note burning service was held on August 27, 1995. As the membership continued to grow, an addition was completed on the church building.

With the Lord’s continued blessings and the membership continuing to increase, Pastor Dupar and Deacon Lorenzo Davis, Sr. seek out a larger place to worship. This brought us where we are now. In December 2006, New Bethel held its 1st worship at the 3.7 acres and 5500 square feet building located at 1807 Community Lane in Alexandria, LA. Because we liked the idea of being a part of the community we added “Community” to our name. Since 2006 the New Bethel Community Missionary Baptist Church has updated the parking lot, purchased a new van, added our Soul Kitchen Ministry (serving the best salads in town)Summer Camp for Youth, we house the YCBM Summer Youth Program and we now have our newly formed Ladies Of  Praise Team. We have also updated our sound systems, our church on England Drive continues to thrive with their members and after our partnerships with T & R Entertainment with the New Bethel Crusaders, we are becoming known as quartet headquarters.

After 43 years we have no plans to stop with the Lord on our side, we know we will. After the retirement of our pastor in 2023, we are under the leadership of Rev. Chris D. Plant, Jr. We are happy to have him and we know with faith he will only take us higher. We give Him all the Glory and we give Him all the Praise.
